Course Description
General security awareness online training course will provide individuals with a basic overview of the general security requirements within the aviation industry. GSAT online gives an overview of possible threats to aviation including suspicious activity also within your organisation. The general security awareness training, online GSAT, also discusses general reporting procedures in the even you detect suspicious or unusual activities or behavior within your work place and airport security.
Who is the training for?
General security awareness training 11.2.7 is not classed as a job specific training course and does not cover any specific aviation sector and is a basic level course for persons that require a general knowledge of aviation security. Please note that national legislation no longer accepts general security awareness training 11.2.7 suffient for any person with unescorted access to secure air cargo and all persons with unescorted access to secure air cargo must complete air cargo training 11.2.3.9.
Examples of staff that require security training 11.2.7 would be:
Cleaners (requiring unescorted access into secure areas but not handling or preparing inflight supplies/airport supplies)
Security Guards (requiring unescorted access into secure areas where identifiable secure inflight/airport supplies are stored)
General staff members requiring unescorted access into areas where there is identifiable secure inflight/airport supplies)
Certification
General security awareness training (GSAT) is made up of units and lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. At the end of each unit there while be between 2-5 questions before you can proceed to the next unit. On completion you have to achieve a minimum of 85% mark before you will be issued with a certificate. A training badge with photo and a digital certificate are also issued. The digital training certificate can be retained on your mobile phone for proof of training being completed.
Learning Outcomes
European Union Regulations 2015/1998 and it’s amending bodies states that General security awareness training 11.2.7 shall result in all of the following competencies:
- Knowledge of previous acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation, terrorist acts and current threats;
- Awareness of the relevant legal requirements and knowledge of elements contributing to the establishment of a robust and resilient security culture in the workplace and in the aviation domain, including inter alia, insider threat and radicalisation.
- Knowledge of the objectives and organisation of aviation security in their working environment, including the obligations and responsibilities of persons implementing security controls.
- Knowledge of reporting procedures.
- Ability to respond appropriately to security related incidents.
